Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fund

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) fund is intended to provide financial support to individuals from underrepresented groups (including but not limited to individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, and/or disabilities) to pursue evaluation-related professional development opportunities.

The purpose of the DEI fund is to help remove financial barriers to learning opportunities for underrepresented groups. DEI grants will provide up to $500 for one individual to attend an evaluation-related training or conference.

Eligibility Considerations

Special consideration will be given to applicants who:
    • are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and/or
    • identify as Two Spirit or part of the LGBTQIA+ community and/or
    • are living with disabilities and/or
    • are new immigrants, refugees and asylum-seekers and/or
    • are from developing nations and/or
    • are from under-resourced populations.

We will consider applications from any underrepresented group and those who are in any way disenfranchised, such as economically, racially, religiously, socially, geographically, or politically (e.g., refugees and asylum seekers).

Candidates may be new to evaluation or have experience in the field. Candidates with experience in other professional areas who would like to learn more about evaluation are also welcome to apply. Regardless of the committee’s decision, the nominee can re-apply every calendar year.

If an application is denied, the committee will explain the reasons behind its decision and may allow the applicant to submit another application in the same calendar year. The applicant cannot apply to the CES BC Conference Bursary and DEI Grant at the same time.

Application Process

Applicants are asked to complete this form

Once the application is submitted, the committee will make a decision on the application within 2-3 weeks. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until all funding is disbursed.

Award Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate an interest in an evaluation-related event and be a member of an underrepresented group. The committee acknowledges that it is our role as funders to offer grantees flexibility as a key step toward advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the evaluation field.

Funding Process

If an application is approved, the committee will reach out to the applicant to inform them of the decision and provide them with information on the next steps. The applicant will be asked to provide a receipt of the event payment and participate in a follow-up survey.
