Our Chapter AGM and election was held on October 4, 2024 at the SFU Harbour Centre.  Kasra Hassani (President), Slavica Stevonovic (Vice President), Becky Gormley (Secretary), Angela Randall (Member-at-Large Conference Lead), Mel Michener (Member-at-Large Conference Support), Golareh Habibi (Member-at-Large Membership Secretary), and Hafsa Sadiq (Member-at-Large Professional Development and Communications) had decided to step away from their positions.  The Treasurer position was also up for election.  With such a significant turnover, we are pleased that Angela and Becky chose to remain on Council and take on new leadership positions.

In accordance with the structure and procedures laid out in our Chapter Bylaws, Brian McGowan chaired our AGM election which produced the following results:

• President (2 year term) – Angela Randall elected
• Vice President (1 year term) – Becky Gormley elected
• Secretary (1 year term) – Michelle Naimi elected
• Treasurer (2 year term) – Anne Worthington re-elected
• Member-at-Large – Conference Lead (2 year term) – Stephanie Spencer elected
• Member-at-Large – Conference Support (2 year term) – no nominations received
• Member-at-Large – Professional Development and Communication #1 (2 year term) – Reanna Clark elected
• Member-at-Large – Professional Development and Communication #2 (2 year term) – Rob Friberg elected.

All elections were by acclamation.

A written declaration was received from Maryam Dehnadi expressing interest in joining Council.  Unfortunately, Maryam was not eligible for election at the time of the AGM.  Written expressions of interest in Coordinator positions were received from Grace Alindogan-Agapito and Rashi Chaturvedi.  The new Chapter Executive Council may consider each of these candidates for appointment as they deem appropriate in the near future.

It is anticipated that our Council additions will bring energy, skills and experience to our team as we look forward to an exciting new year.
