AGM News
Our most recent Chapter AGM and election was held on December 4, 2025 using an online platform.
The following members have decided to step away from their positions: Helaine Krystkowiak (National Representative), Sarah Mallinson (Secretary), Reanna Clark (Member-at-Large Professional Development and Communication #1), Rob Friberg (Member-at-Large Professional Development and Communications #2), Wei Yan (Member-at-Large Conference Support), Bindu Mohan (Lower Mainland Coordinator #2) and Christiana Onabola (Northern Coordinator #1). In addition, the Vice President position was up for election and the Lower Mainland Coordinator #1 was considering leaving.
In accordance with the structure and procedures laid out in our Chapter Bylaws, Brian McGowan chaired our AGM election which produced the following results for elected positions:
National Representative (3 year term) – no nominations received
Vice President (2 year term) – Becky Gormley re-elected
Secretary (2 year term) – Maryam Dehnadi elected
Member-at-Large – Professional Development and Communication #1 (1 year term) – Janice Duddy elected
Member-at-Large – Professional Development and Communication #2; formerly Membership Secretary (2 year term) – no nominations received from eligible members
Member-at-Large – Conference Lead (2 year term) – no nominations received
Member-at-Large – Conference Support (1 year term) – Ross Duncan elected
All elections were by acclamation.
Written declarations were received from Jennifer Alsop and Jess McKeown expressing interest in joining Council. Unfortunately, neither Jennifer nor Jess were eligible for election at the time of the AGM. A written declaration was also received from Karsang Magar in support of continuing as the Lower Mainland Coordinator #1. The new Chapter Executive Council may consider each of these candidates for appointment as they deem appropriate in the near future.
It is anticipated that our Council additions will bring energy, skills and experience to our team as we look forward to an exciting new year.
Brian McGowan, Chair, CESBC 2025 Nominations Committee
